The State has vast road network of 3,15,404 km with road density of 333.5 km per 1000 sq. metre. The state is also leading in rail density with ~4000 km of railway tracks and has 2nd largest metro rail network in the country.
The State is richly gifted with natural maritime advantages and navigable waterways with 950 km of waterfront and 13% of national coastline. It has oldest maritime infrastructure with 2 major ports at Kolkata and Haldia, 2 international airports at Kolkata and Bagdogra and 1 private sector greenfield airport at Andal, West Bardhhaman.
